Permanent | Southeast Queensland | Tier 2 Contractor
A well-established National Tier 2 Civil Contractor is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join its growing Queensland business unit. Following a series of recent project wins, this is a newly created long-term, permanent role offering stability, career progression, and consistent local work across Southeast Queensland.
The Opportunity
Reporting to an experienced and supportive Senior Leadership Team, you will play a key role in leading and delivering smaller-scale civil infrastructure upgrade projects across SE QLD. The position is ideal for a driven Senior Engineer looking to step into a leadership role with a clear pathway to Project Manager.
With 95% of projects located within a 45-minute drive of Brisbane CBD, this role offers genuine work-life balance without FIFO or extensive regional travel.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day senior engineering activities across multiple civil projects
- Manage and mentor 2 Junior Engineers, supporting their technical and professional development
- Oversee project planning, programming, and coordination of site activities
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Support commercial outcomes including cost control, variations, and reporting
- Work closely with Project Managers to ensure successful project delivery
Projects typically include:
- Drainage works
- Concrete structures
- Pavements and associated civil infrastructure upgrades
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering
- Proven experience as a Senior Project Engineer (or strong Project Engineer ready to step up) within civil construction
- Background delivering drainage, concrete, and pavement works
- Strong leadership and mentoring capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working with Tier 2 or Tier 3 civil contractors preferred
- Permanent, long-term role with a nationally recognised contractor
- Strong project pipeline and job security in SE QLD
- Established and approachable senior leadership team
