Mechanical Fitter - Workshop Role
 
An established engineering firm in Cockburn is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join their team in a workshop-based role. This is a 3‑month temp‑to‑perm opportunity, starting at $55/hr and transitioning to $51.50/hr on permanent placement.

This WA manufacturer designs and builds custom lifting and materials handling equipment for heavy industry. Supplying Tier 1 clients across mining, rail, and infrastructure, they're known for precision engineering, robust fabrication standards, and a strong focus on safety and reliability.
 
Role Overview
 
You'll be involved in the assembly, maintenance, and servicing of mechanical lifting systems and associated components. The role is entirely workshop-based, offering hands‑on mechanical fitting with variety and autonomy.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical assembly and maintenance of lifting equipment
  • Fault finding and repair of mechanical systems
  • Safe use of hand/power tools, overhead cranes, and lifting gear
  • Adhering to safety procedures and quality standards
What We're Looking For
  • Maintenance background in Mechanical Fitting or Fabrication
  • Welding experience (advantageous)
  • Trade qualification in mechanical fitting/fabrication (desirable)
  • Confined Space & Working at Heights tickets
  • White Card & valid Driver's Licence
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and work independently
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
