An established engineering firm based in Welshpool is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join their team in a workshop and site-based role. This is a 3-month temp-to-perm opportunity offering $55/hr during the temp period, transitioning to $51.50/hr on permanent placement. The role includes a fully equipped company van and tools, with occasional travel (up to 3 days at a time) for site work.

This WA-based manufacturer designs and builds custom lifting and materials handling equipment for heavy industry. Known for their engineering precision and robust fabrication standards, they supply tailored solutions to Tier 1 clients across mining, rail, and infrastructure. Their operations span design, fabrication, testing, and site installation, with a strong focus on safety and reliability.
 
Role Overview

You'll be involved in the assembly, maintenance, and occasional site installation of mechanical lifting systems and associated components. The role includes general fitting, welding, fault finding, and mechanical servicing. Some travel may be required (typically 1-3 days at a time).
 
Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical assembly and maintenance of lifting equipment
• Welding and fabrication of structural components
• Fault finding and repair of mechanical systems
• Site installation and servicing (occasional travel)
• Use of hand and power tools, overhead cranes, and lifting gear
• Adhering to safety procedures and quality standards

What We're Looking For

• Maintenance background in Mechanical Fitting or Fabrication
• Decent welding experience (MIG/TIG preferred)
• Trade qualification in mechanical fitting or fabrication (desirable)
• Confined Space and Working at Heights tickets 
• White Card and valid Driver's Licence
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and work independently
• Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
