Trade Assistant - Workshop-Based (Bassendean WA)
*6-month contract-to-perm


A leading provider of engineering and maintenance solutions is seeking Trade Assistants to join their high-performance workshop team in Bassendean. Known for supporting major projects across mining, rail, and heavy industry, this organisation delivers precision component rebuilds and testing services to Tier 1 clients across Australia.
 
With a strong safety culture and a commitment to Lean practices, the team operates in a modern, well-equipped facility focused on reliability, quality, and continuous improvement.
 
Roster:

• $51.84hr (Dayshift): Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
• $62.21hr (Afternoon Shift): Monday to Thursday, 1:30 pm - 10:30 pm & Friday, 1:30 pm - 7:30 pm
  
  

 Key Duties

• Assist tradespeople with component maintenance and rebuilds
• Operate hand tools safely and efficiently
• Support cleaning and preparation of armature and stator cores for rewinds
• Perform general labouring tasks and workshop housekeeping
• Contribute to overhaul activities across a range of rotating equipment
• Apply Lean principles to improve safety and efficiency
• Maintain a strong focus on safety and quality standards
  
  

 
What You Bring

• Minimum 3 months experience on a maintenance or industrial site
• Elevated Work Platform ticket preferred
• Dogman ticket highly desirable
• Valid 'C' Class Driver's Licence
• Experience assisting trades in a heavy industry environment
• Strong measuring skills and attention to detail
• Clear communication and a proactive attitude
• Commitment to safety and quality in all tasks

 
Pay & Perks
Competitive hourly rates:

• Days: from $51.84/hr
• Afternoons: up to $62.21/hr
• Penalty rates for public holidays (up to 150%)
• Stable workshop-based role with long-term potential
