Opportunity

A nationally recognised mid-tier contractor is seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee day-to-day delivery of a complex marine infrastructure upgrade, working within a live operational terminal environment.


Based approximately 2.5 hours from Melbourne’s CBD, this role offers an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, organised Site Manager to join one of Australia’s leading design and construct contractors on a fast-paced, high-profile project.


Scope of Works
• Construction of a concrete wash bay slab
• Installation of a flexible pavement area
• Delivery of mass reinforced concrete footings
• Cement stabilisation for SPMT operations
• Comprehensive civil drainage works
• Significant wharf upgrades, including long piles, structural steel, and onshore marine support infrastructure


Key Responsibilities


• Manage all on-site construction activities to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification
• Coordinate trades, subcontractors, plant, and materials to maintain workflow and productivity
• Enforce site safety protocols and undertake regular SWMS reviews, toolbox talks, and site inspections
• Monitor quality control across concrete, piling, structural steel, pavements, and associated civil works
• Communicate progress and site issues with the Project Manager, Engineers, and client representatives
• Maintain detailed site documentation including diaries, ITPs, progress reports, and safety records
• Assist with short-term programming and sequencing to support overall project delivery


About You


• Minimum 8–10 years’ experience as a Site Manager on complex civil or structural projects ($20M–$50M+)
• Strong background in:
• Heavy concrete works (slabs, pavements, footings)
• Marine or wharf construction (piling, steel structures) – highly advantageous
• Civil works including drainage, stabilisation, and earthworks
• Proven ability to run a high-risk site within a live operational environment
• Excellent leadership, communication, and subcontractor management skills
• White Card essential; High-Risk Work licences, First Aid, or marine/port inductions highly regarded
• Trade background or tertiary qualification in construction desirable
