Job description

Experienced Signalling Project Engineer required by a leading railway organisation in Sydney. The company are very well positioned in the NSW rail industry with a strong pipeline of work in 2020/21.

Key Position:

The coordination of engineering functions for allocated projects, to achieve time and budget objectives and provide efficient technical support for signal engineering activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage on-site engineering functions through subordinates
  • Obtain relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications
  • Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary
  • Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, programme workloads and provide technical guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved
  • Accurate forecasts of costs and revenue and utilise corrective action in line with the companies authority and reporting frameworks to maximise the profit margin
  • Establishing and developing a high-performance team to ensure the project achieves targets
  • Ensuring strong contract, commercial and financial risk management, accurate forecasting of costs and revenue and taking corrective action as required
  • Ensuring HSE requirements and risk controls are considered in all construction planning and processes
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated rail signalling site based experience with a minimum 5 years project experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of NSW based signalling requirements
  • Understanding of contemporary practices in construction methodology on multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects
  • Contractual, legal, commercial, industrial relations and legislative compliance management
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Masters or Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Diploma of Project Management in Engineering
  • Graduate Diploma of Railway Signalling and Telecommunication is desirable
  • Accreditation with a NSW based Rail Operator
