Job description

Our client is a NSW State Government Agency and their purpose is to protect, promote and support the rights, dignity, choices and wishes of the people of NSW.

They are currently looking to engage a Senior Property Officer on a contract role initially until June 2023- role will be extended past this. This role is hybrid with 3 days per week in the office and 2 days WFH.

This role require candidates with residential building experience, understanding of the Home Building Act and building contracts.

A temporary contract is currently available within the Property Service Centre, NSW Trustee & Guardian to manage complex construction and renovations for client owned properties.

About the role:
The Senior Property Officer sits within the Property Service Centre and reports to the Principal Property Officer – Construction & Insurance.

The role is part of a team that is collectively responsible for delivering high quality, consistent and timely property services that are consistent with NSWTG’s Customer Excellence Principles. This role independently handles more complex construction, modification, major renovations and/or repairs and maintenance of client residences (including the management of external consultants) and provides guidance and support to Client Service Officers and other teams within the organisation.

The role will undertake the following:
  • Utilise your experience in building, complex construction or project management to deliver vital property services to some of NSW’s most vulnerable
  • Ensure a collaborative approach to property construction & repairs matters by working closely with colleagues, customer, stakeholders and external service providers
  • Coordinate construction, modification, major renovations and/or repairs and maintenance of client residences, including the management of external consultants, working closely with colleagues and liaising with planning authorities, external service providers and other relevant parties
  • Attend to specialist enquiries and assisting customers with limited property knowledge, to understand property related matters to ensure requirements are met
  • Manage work outputs, competing demands/priorities to generate favourable outcomes for all clients/stakeholders
  • Identify areas of risk and ensuring all measures are taken to mitigate risk in consultation with all relevant parties
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders via phone and email
  • Administration duties using Microsoft Office, TRIM and other internal client databases
  • Understand NSW Government and NSWTG’s key services and customer base, maintaining sensitivity, discretion and a professional manner in handling difficult enquiries and issues
Essential requirements:
  • Experience in residential building / project management and capacity to interpret and provide advice on residential building plans and specifications
  • Capacity to manage external service providers in the construction, renovation and repairs of properties to meet the needs of clients, having regard to their disabilities
  • Ability to multitask and manage a high volume caseload of complex renovation and construction projects within an office environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal including experience using various software packages and client databases
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in building, complex construction / project management and capacity to interpret and provide advice on building plans and specifications
  • A demonstrated ability to develop positive and effective working relationships, manage interdependencies and balance competing demands from various stakeholders across the business
  • Strong understanding of Australian building standards and the National Construction Code
  • NSW builders’ licence is preferred
