A leading mechanical services contractor is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to take ownership of their engineering function and drive excellence across major commercial HVAC projects.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership position within a well-established contractor known for quality delivery, technical capability, and long-term client partnerships.

About the Role

The Engineering Manager will lead a team of engineers and oversee the full design lifecycle across a diverse portfolio of commercial projects. You’ll drive productivity, ensure technical compliance, support project delivery teams, and play a key role in innovation, digital transformation, and continuous improvement.

You’ll act as the technical authority across the business, ensuring that all engineering solutions are compliant, cost-effective, safe, and aligned with strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers.
  • Coordinate engineering resources to meet project milestones and business priorities.
  • Oversee design from contract award through to handover.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, the Building Code of Australia, and internal design standards.
  • Review and certify design documentation and installations.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
  • Drive value engineering, risk mitigation, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Lead process improvement and quality assurance activities (ISO 9001, 45001, 14001).
  • Support business development with technical guidance and estimating input.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure WHS compliance.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent.
  • 10+ years’ experience in Australian HVAC construction, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical services, codes, and compliance requirements.
  • Design Practitioner Registration – Mechanical (including smoke control).
  • CPEng/NER/RPEQ or working towards.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage stakeholders, and deliver complex projects.
  • Commercially astute with experience managing budgets.
