Safety Advisor

Job description

Safety Advisor | $75M High-Rise Residential | Newstead

Our client is a leading Tier 2 builder with a reputation for delivering high-quality, complex apartment projects across Queensland. With a strong pipeline of work and a commitment to "certainty in delivery," they are currently seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to lead the onsite HSE function for our latest $75M residential project in Newstead.

Having just broken ground, this project offers the opportunity to manage the safety lifecycle of a landmark build from the early stages of construction through to completion.

The Role
As the Safety Advisor, you will be the primary point of contact for all site-based safety matters, working closely with the Project Manager and Site Team to maintain our high standards.
  • Implement and Manage: Oversee the Site Safety Management Plan (SSMP) and ensure their safety culture is upheld by all trades.
  • Compliance & Auditing: Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and internal audits.
  • Engagement: Lead site inductions, toolbox talks, and provide coaching to subcontractors on SWMS and high-risk activities.
  • Incident Management: Lead investigations and reporting, ensuring proactive measures are in place to mitigate future risks.
What We’re Looking For
  • Tier 2 Experience: A proven track record working with a mid-tier or Tier 1 builder ideally on high-rise residential or large-scale apartment projects.
  • Qualifications: Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS is essential.
  • Local Knowledge: A strong understanding of QLD high-risk construction work (HRCW) regulations and codes of practice.
  • Communication: The ability to build rapport with site crews while maintaining the authority to enforce safety standards.
Why join this well established builder
  • Stability: Join a builder with a secure, long-term project pipeline in South East Queensland.
  • Impact: Take ownership of a flagship $75M project in a prime Newstead location.
  • Culture: Work within a collaborative team environment that values practical solutions over "box-ticking."
