CNC Machinist - Workshop-Based (Bassendean WA)
*6-month contract-to-perm

A leading provider of engineering and maintenance solutions is seeking CNC Machinists to join their high-performance workshop team in Bassendean. Known for supporting major projects across mining, rail, and heavy industry, this organisation delivers precision component rebuilds and testing services to Tier 1 clients across
Australia.

With a strong safety culture and a commitment to Lean practices, the team operates in a modern, well-equipped facility focused on reliability, quality, and continuous improvement.

Roster:

$57.36hr (Dayshift): Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
$68.83hr (Afternoon Shift): Monday to Thursday, 1:30 pm - 10:30 pm & Friday, 1:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Key Duties

Operate CNC lathes on a locomotive wheelset overhaul line
Machine wheels, axles, and support housings to precise specifications
Assist with mechanical fitting, bearing installation, and assembly
Interpret technical drawings and determine manufacturing methods
Measure components and ensure quality standards are met
Contribute to Lean initiatives and workshop efficiency
Maintain a strong focus on safety and compliance

What You Bring

Experience in CNC operation and programming
Ability to set up and operate CNC lathe machines
Kinwa CNC lathe experience preferred but not essential
Strong attention to detail and measuring instrument proficiency
Relevant trade qualification or equivalent work experience
Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
Rail industry experience desirable but not essential - training provided

Pay & Perks
Competitive hourly rates:

Days: from $57.36hr
Afternoons: up to $68.83hr
Penalty rates for public holidays (up to 150%)
Stable workshop-based role with long-term potential
