Job description
The role focuses on leading projects and applying senior technical expertise to the application of Systems thinking, design and analytical approaches to technology-intensive projects in Rail and Transport industries.
The role requires working as a senior member of a highly skilled engineering and other professionals team. It is highly client focused and involves meeting facilitation, client liaison and travel to client workplaces.
This incumbent is capable of drawing upon a broad range of experiences to carry out complicated tasks in a fully flexible and adaptable manner, planning, analysing and making sound decisions independently if required. The incumbent has developed their interpersonal style and leadership
skills sufficiently to develop trusted relationships with the customer and identify new business opportunities, leading to them assuming both technical and project management responsibilities and leading a team of people.
Professional development is aimed at developing a deep specialism and/or broad knowledge across a technical or professional area. The incumbent should have achieved/be eligible for full professional membership (CPEng, CEng, etc.) of a relevant body or similar accreditation (CSEP) in recognition of the breadth of their experience.
Essential Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, currently accredited or able to be considered for accreditation with Engineers Australia
- Exposure to all aspects of the engineering lifecycle, not just early stage conceptual design
- Significant project management and technical engineering experience on complex rail projects
- Capacity to problem solve and make decisions in the face of uncertainty
- Experience in the coaching and/or mentoring of junior professionals
Desirable Criteria
- Masters of Systems Engineering
- CSEP accreditation with an appropriate professional body such as International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE)
