Senior Safety Manager – Railway

Summary:

Experienced Senior Safety Manager required by a government transport organisation, to work across a range of railway projects in Sydney. Initial 12 month contract with potential to extend beyond.

We are looking for somebody that has demonstrated experience at Senior Management level, with the ability to effectively manage stakeholders and work directly with people at Executive level.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  
  • Ensure the provision of functional Health and Safety Management across the organisation and the maintenance of an effective risk management process
  • Implementation of all safety policies, protocols and procedures
  • Keeping correct and up-to-date administrative records
  • Facilitating training of division safety policies and requirements across all Branch activities in accordance with the Rail Safety Act and relevant Work Health and Safety Legislation
  
Key Accountabilities:
  
  • Model good leadership to inspire direction and delivery, develop people, and drive change
  • Live the Public Sector and organisational values to achieve outstanding outcomes for the organisation and customers
  • Provide a high level of assurance to the Executive Director, Program Director or Project Director that safety obligations are being met and fully satisfied
  • Establish, implement, monitor and report against a safety due diligence framework for contracted entities to the company to ensure due diligence obligations are being met and fully satisfied
  • Drive improvements in safety performance by the integration of standard safety performance measures into all contracts, the development and review of contractor dashboards and strategies to share safety best practice
  • Lead the branch risk management and WHS functions and provide strategic safety advice, leadership and support to projects and activities to ensure safety and risk management are addressed and integrated into the key business functions
  • Establish, maintain and continuously improve the strategies and protocols to manage the retained legal liability
  • Analyse and improve operational systems, processes and procedures to improve safety management
  
Requirements:

  • Have at least 5 years’ senior management experience in rail, infrastructure or similar
  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline would be beneficial
  • Possessing a SafeWork NSW Construction Safety Induction is beneficial
  • Be proficient with MS Outlook/Word/Excel/INX/Team Binder
  • Be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Be able to manage a small team of safety resources over a number of sites
