Job description
The Metro Tunnel Project will untangle the City Loop by taking three of Melbourne’s busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city. It will create a new end-to-end train line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden, Parkville, Anzac, and two new CBD stations - State Library and Town Hall - which will directly connect to the City Loop.
We are recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer – OHW to coordinate on-site engineering functions for allocated projects to achieve time and budget objectives and provide efficient support for construction activities.
Responsibilities of the role include;
We are recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer – OHW to coordinate on-site engineering functions for allocated projects to achieve time and budget objectives and provide efficient support for construction activities.
Responsibilities of the role include;
- ROCB/ OHW works project wide for tunnel works, including approaches
- Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
- Utilise effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource time management.
- Forecasting and cost control for responsible cost codes;
- Assist with preparing long-term programme/ sequencing for the excavation works as required; providing productivity and cost inputs
- Manage on-site engineering functions through subordinates, which may include Project Engineers, and/or Cost/Planning Engineers
- Obtain relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications
- Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary.
- Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, programme work loads and provide technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved
- Ensure that project engineering completion is on time and within budget. Record completed work, costs incurred, materials used and retain progress drawings
- Accurate forecasts of costs and revenue and utilise corrective action in line with company authority and reporting frameworks to maximise the profit margin
- Tertiary qualifications Construction / Engineering Discipline.
- Previous work in a Rail environment.
- Minimum 10 years’ engineering experience in a railway environment.
- Experience on > $100 M Projects.
- More than 5 years’ post graduate site-based experience on OHLE
- Knowledge of MTM rail safety procedures and processes
- Proficient with MTM 1500V DC Overhead Wiring System standards
- Delivery of major projects and teams to program and budget specifications
- Understanding of the Quality Management Plan. Safety Management Plan, Environmental Management Plan and Projects Design Management Plan
