Safety Advisor - Brisbane Projects
One of our key clients is a leading national construction company with a reputation for delivering complex and challenging projects across Australia. We are committed to fostering a culture of safety excellence and are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Advisor to join our Brisbane team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role across two significant projects: an $80M Commercial project that is currently halfway to completion, and a $20M Defence project located at Enoggera.
The Role:
Reporting to your Project Managers and the QLD Safety manager, you will be responsible for providing expert safety advice and support to ensure the highest standards of WHS are maintained across both sites. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring WHS management plans and procedures.
- Conducting regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and assess risks.
- Providing practical and proactive safety advice to project teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Investigating incidents, near misses, and hazards, and implementing corrective actions.
- Facilitating WHS training and inductions for all site personnel.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant WHS legislation, codes of practice, and their internal safety policies.
- Maintaining accurate WHS records and preparing reports for management.
- Promoting a positive safety culture and encouraging active participation from all stakeholders.
- Collaborating with project teams to integrate safety into all stages of project delivery.
You are a highly motivated and proactive safety professional with a proven track record in the construction industry. You will possess:
- A relevant WHS qualification (e.g., Diploma of WHS, Certificate IV in WHS).
- Demonstrated experience as a Safety Advisor on projects of $40m plus
- Previously worked for a builder in the Tier 1 or Tier 2 space
- Strong knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation and standards.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- The ability to build strong relationships and influence positive safety behaviours.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in WHS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- A valid Australian Driver's License.
