Pre-Contracts Engineer | Camp Accommodation | 12 Week Contract

Job description

Pre-Contracts Engineer (Temporary Contract)
Remote Road Upgrade Project | Brisbane-based JV
Contract Duration: 5 January - Mid March 2026
Location: Brisbane (Tender Phase) | Remote Project Support
Engagement: Temporary / Contract

The Opportunity

Our client is a Joint Venture between two of Brisbane's leading civil contractors, currently tendering a major regional road upgrade project. As part of the bid strategy, they have identified the need for additional technical and commercial engineering support within the pre-contracts team.

A key component of this tender is the delivery of a temporary camp-style accommodation facility, to be constructed and operated for the duration of the project (approximately two years). To support this critical workstream, we are seeking an experienced Pre-Contracts Engineer or Quantity Surveyor with exposure to camp set-ups or remote accommodation solutions.

The Role

Reporting to the Pre-Contracts Manager, you will play a hands-on role in developing, interrogating, and finalising the camp-related costings for the tender submission.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing the pricing and commercial assessment of temporary camp accommodation solutions
  • Developing and reviewing cost estimates, budgets, and assumptions related to camp setup and operation
  • Liaising with camp suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers to obtain and clarify quotations
  • Interrogating supplier pricing to ensure value for money, accuracy, and risk alignment
  • Supporting the broader pre-contracts team with technical and commercial input as required
  • Assisting with tender documentation and pricing schedules related to the camp scope
About You

You will bring a practical, detail-oriented approach and be comfortable working within fast-paced tender environments.
Ideally, you will have:
  • A background in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in pre-contracts, estimating, or commercial roles on civil infrastructure projects
  • Exposure to remote camps, workforce accommodation, or temporary facilities (highly regarded)
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse, challenge, and validate costs
  • Excellent communication skills and experience dealing with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Availability to commence on 5 January and commit through to mid-March 2026
Why Apply?
  • Work on a high-profile regional infrastructure tender
  • Join a collaborative JV environment backed by two top-tier Brisbane contractors
  • Gain valuable exposure to remote project logistics and camp infrastructure
  • Secure a long-term temporary contract through the full tender period
