The Opportunity

A leading national contractor is seeking an experienced Occupational Health & Safety Advisor to support the safe delivery of a significant infrastructure development located in Regional Victoria.

 
Working approximately 2.5 hours from Melbourne (DIDO roster, 5/2), this role offers the chance to embed yourself in a large-scale civil and construction environment where safety leadership is central to project success.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive HSE professional who thrives in fast-paced, high-risk environments and is passionate about building strong safety culture across site teams.
  
Project Scope

  • Heavy civil construction activities
  • Structural upgrades, concrete and pavement works
  • High-risk operations within a live, operational facility
  • Marine-adjacent works with strict environmental and safety controls
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day safety leadership across all project activities
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with internal and legislative requirements
  • Support and coach site teams, subcontractors, and supervisors to maintain best-practice safety behaviours
  • Lead incident investigations, reporting, and corrective action management
  • Develop and review SWMS, safety documentation, and project risk controls
  • Coordinate onboarding, safety training, and toolbox talks
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety systems, culture, and performance
About You
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Safety Advisor on civil or commercial construction projects
  • Proven capability working in high-risk, multi-disciplinary work environments
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Hazard identification and risk mitigation
    • High-risk construction works (plant movement, lifting, excavation, concrete, etc.)
    • Incident investigation processes and regulatory reporting
    • Safety management systems and auditing
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • White Card essential
  • Cert IV or Diploma in WHS (minimum) – additional safety or environmental tickets highly regarded
  • Ability to work regionally on a 5/2 DIDO basis
