Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Joinery Manager to lead and develop their joinery operations in Fairfield East.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge of joinery and manufacturing.
The Joinery Manager will oversee all workshop operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to exacting quality standards.
The role will manage a team of 8-10 skilled tradespeople, coordinate workflow, and collaborate closely with design, production, and installation teams to ensure seamless project execution.
This position is primarily off the tools but requires someone with a solid joinery background who understands production methods, materials, and machinery.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop & Production Management
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day joinery workshop operations.
- Plan workflow and resource allocation to meet project deadlines.
- Oversee production budgets, material ordering, and cost efficiency.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy and finish meet design specifications.
- Manage logistics for deliveries, installations, and collections.
- Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of joiners, machinists, and apprentices.
- Assign daily work schedules and set clear performance expectations.
- Provide coaching and feedback to foster skills development and team engagement.
- Promote a positive, safety-focused workplace culture.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications for joinery production.
- Collaborate with the design and project teams to recommend best-practice manufacturing techniques.
- Coordinate material procurement to prevent stock shortages.
- Oversee projects from workshop through to final installation.
- Ensure all operations comply with WHS regulations and company safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and promote best practices.
- Manage the maintenance and safe use of all machinery and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant workshop environment.
Qualifications & Skills
- Trade qualification in Joinery or Cabinetmaking (Certificate III or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a leadership or workshop management role within a joinery or manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of joinery methods, materials, and finishes.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed plans and drawings.
- Experience with laminating curves and producing custom joinery.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Strong leadership with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Experience with CNC machinery and modern manufacturing technologies.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing or process-improvement principles.
- Knowledge of Australian building standards and manufacturing certifications.
