Job description

Our client is a State Owned organisation who is the owner of an extensive portfolio of railway network assets across NSW, including tracks, trains, stations, and significant land holdings around stations such as retail spaces.

They are currently looking to engage an Investment Management Manager experienced in Property Investment, on an initial 12 month contract basis - based in the CBD.

The Manager, Investment Manager role will assist the Head of Investment Management to manage and coordinate the overall investment portfolio for TAHE. This will include application of the investment framework, including governance and assurance activities on investment proposals. The role will require working closely with the Property and Commercial Division as well as interfacing with TfNSW (Transport for NSW), Treasury and INSW (Infrastructure of New South Wales) on investment plans, funding requirements and assurance activities.

The role will also provide support to the Chief Financial Officer in determining value for money and investment prioritisation for projects forming part of the capital program.

Key accountabilities
  • Evaluate investment proposals against strategic priorities and financial hurdles.
  • Oversee, analyse and provide advice on existing investment portfolio, including fit against strategic priorities and funding.
  • Support the interface with TfNSW and NSW Treasury on managing TAHE’s portfolio, including new approvals and revisions.
  • Implement the investment framework and support the organisation in business case development, with particular focus on efficiency and financial returns.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies including the Major Projects Policy TPP18-05.
  • Support investment governance including input to the TAHE Investment Assurance Committee and Board.
  • Assist the Head of Investment Management and the CFO in prioritising a pipeline of value for money investment opportunities that align with short- and long-term strategic goals.
  • Enhance project and portfolio reporting.
  • Partnering across the business to ensure investment processes feed into TAHE financial deliverables, include Budgets, Statement of Corporate Intent and Business Plan.
Skills and experience
  • Proven demonstrated expertise in a similar role.
  • Property and due diligence experience with a minimum of 5 years (development background
  • desired).
  • Strong numerical analytical skills to navigate and resolve complex issues and providing time efficient solutions
  • Ability to develop and review complex financial modeling.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to liaise with investors and service providers.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing comprehensive reports and make informed recommendations on new investment opportunities.
Essential requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (Finance/Accounting) or equivalent experience
