Heavy Diesel Fitter / HGV Mechanic
Workshop-Based (Eastern Suburbs of Perth, WA)
*6-month contract-to-perm
A leading provider of engineering and maintenance solutions is seeking a Heavy Fitter to join their high-performance workshop team in Bassendean. Known for supporting major projects across mining, rail, and heavy industry, this organisation delivers precision component rebuilds and testing services to Tier 1 clients across Australia.
With a strong safety culture and a commitment to Lean practices, the team operates in a modern, well-equipped facility focused on reliability, quality, and continuous improvement.
***No HD-Fitter certs required - however exposure to large diesel engines is still essential.
Roster
- $57.36hr + Penalties (Dayshift): Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
- Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble GE 7FDL heavy diesel engines
- Overhaul major engine components including pumps, turbochargers, and power assemblies
- Perform routine servicing and maintenance of workshop equipment
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on diesel engines and heavy machinery
- Conduct inspections to ensure operational efficiency and compliance
- Document repair activities, parts usage, and time allocation
- Collaborate with team members to meet production targets
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company procedures
- Participate in extensive in-house training and development
- Trade qualification in Diesel Fitting or equivalent
- Experience working on GE 7FDL engines or similar heavy diesel platforms
- Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding ability
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and follow repair procedures
- Clear communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Competitive hourly rate:
- Days: from $57.36hr + Penalties
- Penalty rates for public holidays (up to 150%)
