Summary:

The grid connection process can be a sensitive one during the lifetime of a renewable project and the smoothness of this process can be pivotal. For this reason my clients are always open to look at potential experienced candidates who would be able to efficiently carry out this role. 

A Grid Connection Manager will be responsible for developing and managing strategies surrounding grid connections. You will provide innovation and support engineers in any grid related matters. You will work with statutory bodies in order to develop and influence grid policy.

Preferable Experience:
  • Appropriate degree, typically Electrical Engineering Degree
  • Understanding of Australian Renewable energy market
  • Commercial and technical experience in grid connection
  • Experience with Network Connection Applications (Developer or Owner’s side).
  • Experience in NSP and regulatory issues
  • Financial analysis knowledge and the ability to produce financial reports  
Typical Responsibilities:

· Generating relationships with industry bodies. This includes network operators in particular
· Identifying and unlocking opportunities within T&D networks
· Developing and utilising techniques to minimise grid limitations on projects
· Develop innovative solutions for multi technology connections of renewable energy sources
· Grid negotiations for projects in order to minimise commercial and technical risks
· Troubleshooting in relation to grid matters
· Work alongside the wider grid team to develop grid strategy
· Provide grid connection guidance on offer and modification processes
· Keep up to date on regulatory and commercial processes whilst advising on solutions
· Evaluating and providing assistance in the negotiation of grid connection methodologies with AEMO, NSPs, etc
· Supporting policy development relating to contestable works
· Participate in and develop sufficient processes to delivery project aims
· Evaluate and reduce project costs
· Oversee project activity including balance of plant tenders and requirements
· Work with multi-disciplinary teams to support requirements relating to project financing
· Create strategic planning processes and develop grid feasibility studies
