Job description

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Providing sound and effective leadership by providing direction and technical advice, leading by example and championing a quality culture
  • Ability to effectively implement project delivery best practice in the following areas: risk and change management, planning, project set-up, common date environments
  • Ensuring that effective financial and project management controls are in place and deployed to enable monitoring, modification and forecasting as appropriate
  • Managing the acquisition, deployment and management of resources for the project to ensure optimal allocation for projects
  • Directing the assessment, selection and management of suppliers, sub-consultants and contractors associated with projects
  • Driving project performance, service delivery and technical and commercial outcomes and undertaking reviews, ensuring client delivery is above expectation and 
  • Seeking / pursuing rail design opportunities, and the preparation of bids and tender submissions
  
Requirements:
  • Relevant engineering degree, ideally with Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation,,
  • Demonstrated experience including leading multidisciplinary design teams for rail projects within a design and engineering consultancy or main contractor environment,
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex rail infrastructure projects,
  • Experience in leading design in a consultancy and working in a tendered design services environment,
  • Well-developed technical and commercial skills, with a sound knowledge of the industry and a demonstrated ability in securing opportunities, and
  • Excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder management experience and the ability to build credible, collaborative but influential relationships both internally and externally.
