A long-established and highly regarded façade contractor with over 60 years of industry experience is seeking a Curtain Wall Design Manager to lead and oversee the design function across major façade projects.
This privately owned Australian business specialises in complex glass and aluminium façade systems, delivering full building envelope solutions across commercial, residential and mixed-use developments nationally. With integrated capability spanning design, engineering, manufacture and installation, the company is known for its technical expertise, craftsmanship and consistent project delivery track record.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced façade professional looking to take ownership of design strategy, team leadership and technical excellence within a stable, well-established organisation.

The Role
As Curtain Wall Design Manager, you will lead the façade design team and oversee the technical delivery of curtain wall and building envelope systems from concept through to fabrication and installation.
You will play a critical role in ensuring performance compliance, coordination with consultants and builders, and alignment between design, manufacturing and site teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the curtain wall and façade design team
• Oversee design development for unitised and stick curtain wall systems
• Manage façade engineering coordination including structural, thermal, acoustic and waterproofing performance
• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and relevant NCC requirements
• Drive design optimisation for manufacturability and installation efficiency
• Oversee preparation and review of shop drawings, fabrication drawings and technical documentation
• Coordinate with architects, builders, façade consultants and internal project managers
• Lead design risk reviews and value engineering initiatives
• Manage façade mock-ups and performance testing processes (including NATA-accredited testing environments)
• Support procurement and production teams to ensure seamless transition from design to manufacture
• Mentor and develop junior designers and drafters

  
About You
We are seeking a technically strong and commercially aware façade specialist with proven experience in curtain wall systems.

Essential Experience

• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in façade design, with significant exposure to curtain wall systems
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing design teams
• Strong knowledge of aluminium and glass façade systems (unitised and stick)
• Experience delivering façade packages on high-rise or large-scale commercial projects
• Strong understanding of Australian Standards, façade performance requirements and NCC compliance
• Proficiency in relevant design software (AutoCAD, Revit and/or SolidWorks preferred)
• Experience managing façade testing, mock-ups and performance validation
• Strong coordination skills across architects, consultants and builders

Desirable

• Engineering or construction-related tertiary qualification
• Experience working within vertically integrated façade businesses (design to install)
• Strong value engineering and cost-awareness capability
