Community Relations Advisor – 5-Month Contract

About:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Community Relations Advisor to join a high-profile infrastructure project located south of Newcastle, NSW. This is a 5-month temporary contract with an immediate start, ideal for someone with strong stakeholder engagement skills and a background in construction or infrastructure.

About the Role:
In this project-based role, you will support the delivery of effective stakeholder and community engagement activities. You’ll act as a key liaison between the construction team and the community—managing issues, communicating project developments, and building positive, lasting relationships with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement community and stakeholder engagement plans
  • Liaise with local residents, businesses, and community groups to provide timely project updates
  • Provide communication advice and support to construction and project teams
  • Draft clear and engaging community notifications, newsletters, social media posts, and formal correspondence
  • Manage responses to public and stakeholder enquiries across multiple channels
  • Coordinate stakeholder forums, pop-up sessions, site visits, and community meetings
  • Maintain accurate records of engagement activities and input into project reporting
  • Support project milestone communications and media opportunities
  • Contribute to risk minimisation through inductions and toolbox presentations
About You:
  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in communications, public relations, stakeholder engagement, or similar
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a community or stakeholder relations role
  • Prior experience in a construction or infrastructure environment is highly desirable
  • Strong writing, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment
  • Confident dealing with sensitive community issues and managing multiple priorities
