CNC Operator / TA (Workshop Role)

Hourly Rate:
$57.36
Contract: 6-month contract with view to permanent
Location: Bassendean workshop
 
Shifts:
  • Day shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
  • Afternoon shift: Monday to Thursday, 1:30 pm - 10:30 pm & Friday, 1:30 pm - 7:30 pm
The Opportunity
Join a leading engineering workshop supporting the rail industry. This role offers stability, excellent pay, and the chance to transition to permanent employment. You'll be part of a skilled team working on locomotive wheelset overhauls, contributing to critical heavy industry projects.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC machinery on a locomotive wheelset overhaul line
  • Wheel & axle machining
  • Mechanical fitting and assembly
  • Bearing installation and component measurement
  • Machine wheels, axles, and support housings for locomotive components
  • Inspect and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Uphold and promote a strong safety culture
About You
  • Experienced in CNC operating and programming
  • Skilled in setting up and operating CNC lathe machines to produce precision components
  • Kinwa CNC lathe experience preferred but not essential
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to machine components accurately
  • High attention to detail with sound knowledge of measuring instruments
  • Relevant trade qualification or equivalent work experience
  • Clear communication skills, both oral and written
  • Rail industry experience desirable but not essential - training provided for the right candidate
