Reporting directly to the State Manager, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys driving efficiency, compliance, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop operational teams to deliver high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee Wharf Cartage operations, including fleet utilisation, scheduling, fatigue management, and team supervision.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and transport regulations (OHS, NHVL, etc.).
- Investigate operational incidents and implement corrective actions to enhance safety and reduce risk.
- Analyse and report on KPIs to identify areas for cost savings, service enhancement, and operational efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, regulators, and internal teams.
- Proven experience in a transport or logistics operations leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of compliance, fatigue management, and national transport legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate diverse, high-performing teams.
- Experience with transport management systems (TMS) – ideally 1-Stop – and strong IT proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Results-driven mindset with excellent problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A passion for improving systems, reducing costs, and delivering exceptional service.
