Trades Assistant - Rail Maintenance, Bassendean
Join a leading rail maintenance team based in Bassendean, supporting skilled tradespeople in a dynamic workshop environment.
We're seeking reliable and safety-focused Trades Assistants to support mechanical overhaul and maintenance activities. You'll work alongside experienced tradespeople, helping with component prep, cleaning, and general labouring duties.

- Rate: $41.50hr - $52hr
We're seeking reliable and safety-focused Trades Assistants to support mechanical overhaul and maintenance activities. You'll work alongside experienced tradespeople, helping with component prep, cleaning, and general labouring duties.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting trades with mechanical tasks and workshop duties
- Operating hand tools safely and efficiently
- Cleaning and preparing components for rewinds (armatures, stators)
- Supporting Lean practices and continuous improvement
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Participating in high-risk work under supervision (e.g. crane lifts, confined space
About You
You'll bring a proactive attitude and a strong focus on safety and quality. Ideally, you've worked in a heavy industry or maintenance setting and are comfortable supporting trades in a hands-on environment.
We're looking for:
- Minimum 3 months experience on a maintenance or industrial site
- Dogman ticket highly regarded
- EWP ticket preferred but not essential
- Valid 'C' Class Driver's Licence
- Strong attention to detail and measuring skills
- Good communication and teamwork
- Safety-first mindset
- Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
- Afternoon Shift: Monday to Thursday, 1:30 pm - 10:30 pm; Friday, 1:30 pm - 7:30 pm (may commence after initial training)
