About the Company
Our client is a well-established commercial interior construction company operating across NSW and Victoria. With over 20 years of industry experience, they specialise in:
- Commercial strip-outs
- Make-good works
- Partition systems
- Suspended ceilings and ceiling grid installations
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Operations Manager with strong technical knowledge of partitioning and ceiling systems to join their leadership team.
The Role
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations across multiple live projects. You will work closely with senior management, Project Managers, Site Supervisors and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
This role requires someone who understands partitions and ceiling fixing inside-out, from programming and procurement through to installation sequencing and site coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee all active strip-out, partition and ceiling projects
- Manage Project Managers and Site Supervisors
- Allocate labour and resources across projects
- Ensure projects are delivered on program and within budget
- Monitor productivity, site performance and cost control
- Review drawings and specifications
- Plan installation sequencing for partition and ceiling works
- Identify constructability risks prior to site commencement
- Provide technical guidance to site teams
- Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and NCC/BCA requirements
- Review project budgets and margin performance
- Approve variations and subcontractor claims
- Monitor procurement and material ordering
- Improve cost efficiency across labour and materials
- Oversee WHS compliance across all sites
- Ensure SWMS and site documentation are maintained
- Conduct site audits and toolbox meetings
- Drive a strong safety culture across the business
- Improve operational systems and workflows
- Implement reporting structures for project tracking
- Develop performance benchmarks for site teams
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in commercial fit-out operations or project management
- Strong hands-on experience in partitioning and suspended ceiling systems
- Background in commercial interior construction
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong understanding of build sequencing and trade coordination
- Solid commercial awareness and budget control
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Trade background (Carpentry / Ceiling Fixing / Shopfitting)
- Experience in strip-outs and make-good works
- Experience working with Tier 1 builders or commercial property groups
- Exposure to project management systems (Procore, Smartsheet's or similar)
