Mechanical Fitter - Bassendean
*6-month temp-to-perm
*Citizenship, PR or an indefinite visa required
Rotating shift:
Days ($57.36/hr): Monday to Friday 6 am - 2.30 pm
Afternoons ($68.63/hr): Monday to Thursday 1.30 pm - 10.30 pm & Friday 1.30 pm - 7.30 pm

About the role
- Disassemble, inspect and requalify HME/locomotive components including wheel motors, alternators, traction motors, cartridges, blowers and radiator fans.
- Measure and inspect critical journals and bores.
- Conduct requalification inspections of bearings and pinions.
- Assemble HME components including preparation, installation and bearing installation.
- Perform quality checks throughout assembly.
- Use iPad to manage job progression.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety.
- Industry leading in-house training provided.
About you
- Relevant trade qualification as Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Machine Repair or equivalent.
- Experience in the overhaul of AC and DC traction motors.
- Experience in overhaul of alternators and rotating electrical equipment.
- Sound electrical and mechanical experience required.
- Experience with GE or EMD motors and associated equipment highly regarded.
- High level of measuring skills with strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Willingness to learn.
