Mechanical Fitter - Bassendean 

*6-month temp-to-perm
*Citizenship, PR or an indefinite visa required


Rotating shift:

Days ($57.36/hr): Monday to Friday 6 am - 2.30 pm
Afternoons ($68.63/hr): Monday to Thursday 1.30 pm - 10.30 pm & Friday 1.30 pm - 7.30 pm

About the role

  • Disassemble, inspect and requalify HME/locomotive components including wheel motors, alternators, traction motors, cartridges, blowers and radiator fans.
  • Measure and inspect critical journals and bores.
  • Conduct requalification inspections of bearings and pinions.
  • Assemble HME components including preparation, installation and bearing installation.
  • Perform quality checks throughout assembly.
  • Use iPad to manage job progression.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety.
  • Industry leading in-house training provided.
 
About you
  • Relevant trade qualification as Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Machine Repair or equivalent.
  • Experience in the overhaul of AC and DC traction motors.
  • Experience in overhaul of alternators and rotating electrical equipment.
  • Sound electrical and mechanical experience required.
  • Experience with GE or EMD motors and associated equipment highly regarded.
  • High level of measuring skills with strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Willingness to learn.
