Rate: $20 Per Hour
Role Summary
We are seeking a motivated and hardworking Apprentice Shopfitter / Cabinet Maker to join a well-established architectural joinery and fit-out business. In this role you'll learn all aspects of bespoke joinery, from CAD-drawn shop drawings to CNC manufacturing, through to installation on commercial, retail, hospitality, and residential projects. You'll be mentored by experienced tradespeople and work on high-quality, custom joinery while developing your trade skills, technical knowledge, and practical experience.

In this role you'll learn all aspects of bespoke joinery, from CAD-drawn shop drawings to CNC manufacturing, through to installation on commercial, retail, hospitality, and residential projects. You'll be mentored by experienced tradespeople and work on high-quality, custom joinery while developing your trade skills, technical knowledge, and practical experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the fabrication of joinery components in the workshop under guidance, including cabinets, panels, furniture, and other custom joinery.
- Learn and operate workshop machinery (e.g., CNC machines, edgebanders, saws) safely under supervision.
- Read and interpret technical drawings / shop drawings.
- Help with the finishing, sanding, veneering, and polishing of timber and other materials.
- Participate in site installations: measuring, transporting, assembling, and installing joinery on customer sites.
- Support quality control processes and follow quality plans for each project.
- Always Adhere to safety policies and SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements).
- Maintain tools, workspace, and housekeeping standards in the factory and on-site.
- Attend off-the-job training / TAFE as required for your apprenticeship certificate.
- Assist in delivery preparation and logistics (loading, unloading, packing joinery).
Key Skills / Attributes
- Strong eagerness to learn and develop in a hands-on trade.
- Good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Comfortable working in both a manufacturing workshop and on construction / client sites.
- Basic mechanical aptitude: willingness to operate and learn machinery safely.
- Good communication skills, able to take direction and work in a team environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed — trades apprenticeships require long-term dedication.
- A positive attitude toward safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Valid right to work in Australia.
- (Desirable) Previous experience working with wood, DIY, or trade background / school-based exposure.
Training & Qualification
- You will be employed under a formal apprenticeship (e.g., Certificate III in Cabinet Making / Joinery or related qualification).
- Off-the-job training (e.g., TAFE) will be required as part of the apprenticeship.
- You will gain hands-on experience in both workshop manufacturing and installation on live projects.
- Mentoring from experienced joiners, shopfitters, and tradespeople will be provided.
