Job description
Factory Manager Required | Chinese Speaking | Joinery & Shopfitting | South-Western Sydney | Full-Time | $130K-$150K (DOE)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Factory Manager to lead a busy joinery and shopfitting manufacturing operation in South-Western Sydney. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing all factory operations, production teams, and workflow for high-quality commercial and retail fitouts.
Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) is essential as most of the factory team speaks Chinese and the leadership requires strong cultural alignment to ensure clear communication, efficient operations, and team cohesion.
This is a unique opportunity for a trade-qualified, experienced joinery or cabinetmaking professional to step into a senior operational role where you can make a tangible impact on production quality, efficiency, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all daily operations of the manufacturing facility.
- Supervise, coach, and motivate a team of factory tradespeople, predominantly Chinese speaking.
- Oversee production schedules, workflow, and resource allocation to meet project timelines.
- Ensure consistent high-quality finishes on joinery and shopfitting projects.
- Maintain workplace health and safety standards and compliance.
- Manage procurement of materials, tools, and equipment for production.
- Liaise with project managers and site teams to coordinate factory output with project requirements.
- Monitor KPIs, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and report operational performance to leadership.
- Act as a bridge between the factory floor and senior management, ensuring smooth communication and problem resolution.
Key Requirements
- Trade qualification in Carpentry, Joinery, Cabinetmaking, or related discipline.
- Proven experience in factory supervision, production management, or shopfitting operations.
- Strong knowledge of commercial joinery, interior fit-outs, and manufacturing workflows.
- Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) is mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Familiarity with CNC machinery, panel saws, edge benders, and fabrication processes.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to work on the production floor while overseeing operations.
- Experience with project management software is a plus.
What's on Offer
- Competitive salary: $130K-150K + Super, commensurate with experience.
- Leadership role in a well-established, high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Opportunity to manage and shape a skilled joinery team.
- Exposure to diverse commercial and retail fit-out projects.
- Career growth potential in operational and production management.
