Job description
Our client is a state Government organisation within the Transport sector who have recently identified an urgent need for a Technical Electrical Systems Specialist to work on a complex rail project on a long term contract basis.
The position will involve providing expert engineering advice and assistance to colleagues on verification and validation processes (e.g. inspect, test and commission) for electrical works. In addition to this you will be expected ensure new and altered electrical works are inspected, tested and commissioned in accordance with approved design, applicable standards and procedures. Finally you will be expected to mentor and develops staff to ensure the availability of suitably qualified and competent staff to inspect, test and commission electrical works.

Selection Criteria:
- To be an "Authorised Operator" (refer SMS-11-GD-0244) and/or actively pursuing the "Authorised Officer (Substations)" or "Authorised Officer (Mains)" personnel certification.
- Detailed knowledge and demonstrated experience in the application of Electrical Construction Standards and Specifications.
- Extensive experience in electrical maintenance and construction works, including test, inspection and commissioning processes.
- Superior knowledge and understanding of rail operations to enable the production and implementation of electrical test, inspection and commissioning plans.
- Extensive construction or maintenance experience in the rail environment.
- Demonstrated experience in testing and /or commissioning of electrical equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, develop and manage staff.
