Job description

CGC Recruitment are working with an existing client who are a Main Tier M&E Contractor who focus on Constuction and Maintenance projects in the Resources sector Nationally across Australia. 
 
As of recent project wins, they have identified an urgent requirement for an Electrical & Instrumentation Planner to work on a fixed term contract basis. The role will be responsible for the effective planning and scheduling of electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities to ensure asset reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Develop and maintain detailed job plans for preventive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance on electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Review work notifications and convert them into planned work orders with detailed scopes, labor requirements, tools, materials, and safety procedures.
  • Liaise with operations and engineering to ensure planned activities align with production schedules and technical standards.
  • Order and coordinate delivery of parts and materials with procurement and warehousing teams.
  • Maintain accurate records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) including job plans, asset histories, and failure data.
  • Prepare and update maintenance schedules and shutdown plans in coordination with execution teams.
  • Conduct field scoping of job sites to ensure job feasibility and verify resource needs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for reliability enhancements and maintenance best practices.
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Trade certification or diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation, or equivalent technical background.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance with at least 2 years in planning or scheduling.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and instrumentation systems, equipment, and safety standards.
  • Proficiency with CMMS software (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
The project is running 9 – Day Fortnight (Monday – Friday then Monday – Thursday) and are looking for local based candidates who are available in the next 3-4 weeks.
