An exciting opportunity for an experienced Civils Senior Project Manager with a strong background working in business development / bid management roles to join a growing tier 2 main contractor who operate on a national scale.
 
Our client is especially keen to speak to candidates with relationships and exposure to WA’s iron ore industry sector who are interested in leading the development of a new revenue stream for the company.
 
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager this is a key role for our client’s growth strategy. In the first instance the role will be based from their Head Offices located North of the River with a heavy focus on cultivating client relationships, sourcing and winning new projects. Once successful the role with then transition to a site-based FIFO position to deliver the works.
 
Duties:
 
  • Lead and manage the delivery of civil engineering projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Liaise with mining client representatives to identify and source new project opportunities, fostering strong relationships and understanding client needs.
  • Support the development of bids and proposals to secure new projects, including contributing to tender submissions and presentations.
  • Manage project teams on-site, providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineering teams, procurement, and operations, to optimize project delivery processes and maximize efficiency.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of project management practices within the organization, sharing best practices and lessons learned.
 
Candidate Criteria:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Project Management certification (PMP, Prince2, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience in the resources industry (iron ore) and a proven track record of managing construction projects for large miners.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  • Strong business development skills, with experience in identifying and pursuing new opportunities within the mining sector.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients, stakeholders, and team members at all levels.
  • Willingness to work on-site (FIFO) and travel as required to support project delivery and business development activities.
