Job description

My client, are a global consultancy firm, are currently going from strength to strength with an excellent pipeline of work over the next 10 years on major projects in Melbourne. 

Due to the extensive programme of works, they are currently looking for both a Senior and Principal Traction Engineer to join there reputable team to work on the design of electrical sub-stations within these projects.

In this role you will;
  • Maintain, develop and retain the highest standard of OHW discipline technical skill as applicable to their clients;
  • Develop, revise, test and analyse computer-based traction power load flow and fault studies;
  • Provide high quality engineering design and consultancy services;
  • Prepare overhead wiring designs from feasibility, through concept and ultimately to full detail design;
  • Reviewing of and ensuring compliance with the components of the project for which responsible, including drawings, reports, specifications and studies and the interfaces with other disciplines;  
  • Identifying and managing risks associated with the design and delivery of rail electrical systems;
To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following;
  • 8-15 years' demonstrated experience in railway power design and substation construction;
  • Knowledge of different OHW systems (AC, DC, Heavy Rail & Light Rail would be an advantage but not essential);
  • A proven track record in working on multidisciplinary rail projects, across the project lifecycle;
  • Strong technical and commercial acumen;
  • Previous experience of managing and delivering design solutions;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegation skills;
