Lead HSE Advisor - FIFO

Job Overview: They are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join their growing Western Australian team. Initially working on a FIFO basis on a $40m remediation project for BHP, the successful individual will then transition to being Perth based and become the HSE Lead for the company’s growing WA business unit working across the region’s portfolio of projects.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and systems in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and staff on health, safety, and environmental matters.
  • Deliver HSE training and inductions to employees, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring that corrective actions are implemented and reported.
  • Ensure that all HSE documentation is up to date, including reports, registers, and action plans.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through communication, site inspections, and safety leadership.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with environmental protection practices and regulations.
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance, highlighting areas for improvement and recommending corrective actions.
 
Key Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years’ experience working as a HSE Advisor for a main contractor in the Australian construction or mining industries.
  • Ability to work on a FIFO roster.
  • Solid understanding of Australian HSE legislation, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong desire to develop your career within a growing business.
  • Ability to work independently, while contributing to team goals and projects.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).
