About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Project Manager to lead the construction of a $20 million shopping centre, including three retail fit outs. This is a unique opportunity to oversee the entire project lifecycle, ensuring that the development is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Lead the end-to-end delivery of a $20M shopping centre and retail fit-outs, from design through to completion.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and local authorities to ensure smooth communication and collaboration.
- Budget Control: Manage the project budget, ensuring costs are kept within scope and report on financial performance throughout the project.
- Timeline Management: Develop and monitor project timelines, ensuring milestones are met and project deadlines are achieved.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee on-site construction activities to ensure they meet the required standards and regulations, including compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of site managers, contractors, and support staff, ensuring effective coordination across all project phases.
- Retail Fit-Out Coordination: Manage the design, construction, and fit-out of the three retail spaces, ensuring each meets the client's specifications and is delivered on schedule.
- Reporting: Provide regular project updates to senior management and clients, including status reports, financial tracking, and risk assessments.
- Experience: 8+ years of project management experience in the construction industry, preferably with experience in retail, commercial, or shopping centre developments.
- Project Scale: Proven track record of managing projects with budgets of $20M or more.
- Education: Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Communication: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of working with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to proactively identify and resolve issues, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
- Strong financial and budget management skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations
- Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Aconex)
- Detail-oriented with strong decision-making abilities
