Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Estimator to join an ASX listed main contractor who operate on a national basis. The business provides solutions for their clients across the Defence, Marine, Mining, Infrastructure, Energy and Commercial sectors.
 
They are currently recruiting a Senior Estimator to be based out of their Head Offices located North of the River. In this role you will be working on national tenders throughout the marine, mining and industrial sectors with an emphasis on concrete repairs and remediation – previous experience working in this area is essential to this role.
 
Duties:
  • Prepare and develop accurate cost estimates through carrying out detailed and accurate material quantity take-offs to develop bills of quantities derived from site measurements
  • Assist with preparing and developing construction methodologies, programs and submission documentation
  • Develop estimates from first principles using site productivity rates
  • Prepare risk and opportunity including cost escalation analysis for estimates
  • Review designs and engineering specifications for cost effectiveness and suggest alternatives where applicable
  • Hand over detailed tenders with traceability and support into pre-contracts and delivery
  • Assist in supervision of other Estimators assigned to the estimating group.
  • Coordinate team activities and conduct tender cost estimate review meetings
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and maintain positive relationships
 
Candidate Criteria:
 
  • Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
  • Experience working as an Estimator for a main contractor.
  • Experience working on concrete repair or remediation works.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen.
  • Awareness of the need to obtain additional information or seek clarification through RFI’s to the Client to ensure a complete set of tender documents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, confidence, professionalism and self-motivation.
  • High level attention to detail and the ability to work to set timeframes while multitasking.
