Job description

This client side organisation within the transport sector have recently had an increase in their current project portfolio and coupled with an ongoing capital works program, they have identified a number of upcoming requirements for specialist contract staff. One area where they have identified a need for project support is for a Project Manager to assist on a large rail program which will provide additional rolling stock to enable the 2018 time table. The project will involve implementing a system that provides ship to shore communications for applications such as passenger information and announcements and CCTV.

The position is fully accountable for the timely delivery of Technology infrastructure projects and the commissioning to a high quality and to approved designs within scheduled delivery timeframes. Independent decision making requirements of the position include:

• Overall Technology infrastructure delivery including high level resource planning and communications.
• Mitigate risks and take corrective steps to ensure timely delivery of projects within the portfolio.

Collaborative decision making requirements of the position include:

• Compliance that the project delivery and commissioning process is in accordance with the quality standards and in-line with approved designs.

One of the primary challenges in this positon will be to manage and ensure the timely delivery of technology projects to meet customer expectations against competing priorities and acute resource constraints within the constraints of time, budget, risk and quality.

Selection Criteria:

• Hold Tertiary qualifications (minimum Diploma) in Project Management or Engineering discipline, and/or demonstrated experience in the delivery of Telecommunications Industry projects from inception to completion;
• Telecommunications Industry experience preferably as they relate to the rail industry;
• Experience in document and specification preparation, to contribute to the tendering process, including costing projects and preparing budgets.
• Knowledge and demonstrated experience in managing and delivery of single and multi-disciplined medium complexity telecommunication projects;
• Developed high level communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with developed client relationship and negotiation skills for the capacity to influence stakeholders.
• Knowledge and demonstrated experience in Project Management Methodologies, such as ‘PMBok’ or ’Prince’ principals, or similar;
• High level conceptual, research, planning, analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to apply them in the management of technology-driven projects with proficiency in the use of computer software packages, including the Microsoft office suite, Primavera 8.3, Lotus Notes
