Job description

With broad recognition as a leader in condition monitoring systems and acoustic diagnostic technology, some 200 wayside hardware systems have been installed on rail networks throughout the world.

My client are now looking for a Project Manager to support them on the delivery of multiple projects. This position can be based in Perth or Adelaide.

In summary this role requires someone who can handle running a project that involves a lot of IT (networks, wifi, Bluetooth, hardware/firmware/software deployed trackside) but also manage the OEM manufacture of products. Including ensuring all teams hit their dates, the quality control, contractual and customer relationships, and even civil works and installation/commissioning of systems.

Duties and responsibilities;
  • Promote and ensure the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management systems are implemented and adhered to.
  • Develop and implement project plan, monitor progress in respect of time, costs, and quality.
  • Interface with client/s and contractor/s.
  • Control and optimise the allocation of human and physical resources on the project.
  • Manage risks (including issues and opportunities), scope changes, and other non-standard events throughout the life of the project.
  • Support execution team with resolution of roadblocks and interdependencies. Partner with technical and functional teams external to the project to ensure their tasks are completed as required.
  • Identify potential safety, cost, time, scope, quality, procurement, and human resources issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Facilitate convergence of functional and technical knowledge and build project teams.
  • Work with globally located team often comprising of members of separate organizations to coordinate day-to-day execution as per plan.
  • Develop teams and individual team members competence in respect to their disciplines.
  • Management of requirements and deliverables.
  • Report on project progress as required.
  • Ensure pre-defined project management processes and practices are followed. Drive simplification and improvement as necessary.
  • Ensure quality of deliverables is verified and matching stakeholder expectations.
  • Track project outcomes realization and customer satisfaction levels through established metrics against service level. Ensure lessons learned are collected.
Qualifications & Skills;

Essential
  • Degree qualified (preference for Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science) with 7h years of experience.
  • Substantial experience and proven track record managing complex projects, typically worth $1-5M.
  • Project Engineering experience, including development of scope and documentation.
  • Management and leadership of engineering resources.
  • Management of competing project requirement.
  • Experience across the rail AND/OR mining sectors
  
Preferred
  • Preference for experience with Rail domain and/or embedded software/ industrial communication products.
  • Vision and/or acoustic system experience.
  
Technical Expertise:
  • PMP, ScrumMaster or related Project Management certifications.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite of products such as Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
