The Company

Sate wide government agency across network and safety for road infrastructure assets in particular based in the Illawarra area.
 
Primary purpose of the role

Community and Place leads engagement with NSW regional communities and stakeholders to champion their needs and achieve integrated community outcomes. The Community Partnering team is focused on engaging with the community, industry and local council stakeholders to gain insight into their local needs, manage relationships and deliver safety and transport outcomes which suit those communities now and into the future.
This role provides partnering and engagement activities, including assessments, advice and assisting in the development and delivery of relevant transport programs across the region and act as the TfNSW representative for regional communities in NSW.

This is a part-time role with flexible working arrangements for 3 days a week till December then 2 days a week for 12 months thereafter. 

The ideal candidate will be looking for part-time work and have a traffic engineering, road design or engineering background working across local and state gov or the private sector. 

Key accountabilities
  • Facilitate and develop key relationships with stakeholders including councils, community groups, other government departments, service providers and operators to meet community needs and delivery of programs.
  • Collaborate with customers, communities and key stakeholders to inform movement and place planning, decision making and delivery of transport solutions throughout the region.
  • Provide timely and considered responses to customer and stakeholder issues with a customer focus.
  • Deliver a diverse range of TfNSW programs to community, partners and stakeholders, including planning, coordination, monitoring and reporting on those programs to provide strong safety and transport outcomes.
  • Facilitate a safe systems approach for the investigation of serious and fatal crashes to improve customer and community safety.
  • Conduct relevant transport and customer data analysis to identify and understand local transport issues.
  • Provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders concerning safety and transport network performance.
  • Maintain knowledge of and understand TfNSW’s plans, policies and priorities to ensure they are represented from an informed perspective in public forums and discussions with external agencies.
  • Collaborate with other TfNSW divisions and branches to provide the voice of our communities to inform plans, programs and customer engagements.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement and excellence in customer service within the team.
Key challenges
  • Working with a diverse range of stakeholders across a large geographical area as well as influencing and engaging effectively with communities to achieve transport safety outcomes.
  • Delivery of a broad range of functions within the team.
  • Understanding community expectations and needs and balancing them against TfNSW policy and technical requirements.
