The position will be responsible for the management of the technical performance of the diesel rolling stock fleet operated by NSW Train Link in partnership with the Asset Manager. The role provides technical support to the various NSW Train Link business units while including assistance with technical compliance to the various standards and regulatory requirements related to the business. The role will also support the significant business transformation required to introduce a new fleet of diesel trains, requiring liaison with third party suppliers and other stakeholders and leading to an enhanced business operating model encompassing operator/ maintainer functions in the new contract related to this new fleet.
Key challenges of the role include, the management of multiple stakeholder agendas across a varied portfolio of activities covering both existing activities, and new future activities as well as, Balancing the needs of existing technical operational requirements with the transformational change underway to introduce new electric fleet to the business.
Selection Criteria:
  1. Relevant Tertiary Qualifications and at least 8 years’ experience in engineering practice.
  2. Project and contract management experience at a senior level for major projects (>$50M) related to the introduction of complex turnkey equipment or systems to established businesses.

The Position:

  • You will have significant experience in delivering multi-disciplinary rail related projects
  • Ability to build, maintain and manage strong client relationships and have worked closely with construction managers

  • Supporting and engaging in design reviews and HAZOP studies

  • Identifying and acquiring necessary project resources, managing staff forecast
  • Manage Subcontractors and Suppliers on the project where appropriate and ensure the relevant form of subcontract is used and complied with
  • High level of commercial awareness
  • Demonstrated experience in developing business and forming strong client relationships including an ability to deal directly with clients
  • A proven ability of managing and growing a team, with strong leadership skills and the ability to develop and maintain a highly motivated project delivery team
 
Requirements:
 
  • Relevant engineering degree, masters and chartership are highly desirable
  • Around 12-15 years’ + experience
  • Knowledge of procurement and different contract types
  • Project Management qualification desirable

This well regarded Rail contractor specialises in track maintenance and construction projects. They presently are presently engaged in the delivery of a number of specialist rail projects in NSW, Victoria and QLD and have healthy pipeline of work across all three states. In addition to this they are also tendering for over $500+ml worth of rail projects and as of such have identified a requirement for an experienced engineer to assist on project tenders.

The role will involve developing detailed methodologies, resource plans and programs for a number of large scale rail projects. This will involve planning numerous rail possessions and details access arrangement plans involving civil and track infrastructure. You will be expected to interface with delivery partners and provide engineering strategies at a complex level, developing submission to meet clients safety, technical and quality procedures.  

We are actively looking for Engineers who have a proven background in the delivery of Track construction project in a complex brownfield rail environment and preferably have pervious experience working on major tenders in a joint venture environment.

The role will be on an initial 2 month contract basis for the duration of the tender but would have the option to turn into a full time position dependent on project award.

The Position:
 
Opportunity available to join a dynamic team on the construction of a very high spec railway station, with bespoke finishes works. This is an iconic railway project in Sydney.
 
Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering the key finishes of a brand new railway station.

You will be the key contact in coordinating all the finishes trade on site to ensure the project is complete to the highest quality. Key finishes include but are not limited to; drywalls, flooring, glazing, cladding, hand rails, joinery, painting and furniture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage 1 x Site Engineer and 1 x Graduate Engineer
  • Procure materials and services from our approved suppliers
  • Monitor and coordinate site activities
  • Review and approve subcontract and supplier invoices and claims
  • Ensure that all finishes works comply with the plans and specifications
  • Sub-contractor Management
  • Monthly Cost Tracking
  • Look ahead programming  
  • Ensure site safety is followed

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • A strong building background with experience working in building finishes
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Project Engineer
  • A genuine commitment to strong WH&S culture and values
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong problem solving and organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a team and autonomously
  • Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
