Senior Contract Administrator (12-Week Contract)
Industry: Construction – Government / Defence Projects
Contract Duration: 12 Weeks (Immediate Start)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Contract Administrator to join a major new build project at its critical mobilisation stage. This is a short-term contract role (12 weeks) with a leading main contractor, supporting the commercial and contractual setup of a large-scale government/defence project.
This role is ideal for a highly capable Snr CA who can hit the ground running, bring structure to early-phase processes, and ensure strong commercial foundations are in place from day one.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the establishment of contract administration processes during project mobilisation
  • Review, interpret, and administer head contracts and key subcontract agreements
  • Manage procurement processes, including tendering, scope packaging, and subcontractor engagement
  • Prepare, negotiate, and finalise subcontract agreements in line with project and client requirements
  • Develop and implement contract management systems, registers, and reporting frameworks
  • Provide commercial advice to the Project Manager and wider delivery team
  • Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks and opportunities
  • Oversee cost control processes including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Manage variations, progress claims, and payment certifications
  • Ensure compliance with government/defence contractual requirements and standards
  • Liaise with key stakeholders including client representatives, consultants, and subcontractors
  • Support the transition from mobilisation into full project delivery
 
Key Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Senior Contract Administrator with a tier 1 or tier 2 main contractor
  • Demonstrated experience working on government and/or defence projects (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of Australian standard forms of contract and government frameworks
  • Ability to quickly establish systems and processes in a greenfield project environment
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong commercial acumen with attention to detail
  • Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline
