Our client is the leading transport agency in New South Wales and they are currently seeking a Senior Urban Design Lead for an initial 6 month contract

This role will work on the Public Transport programme of works covering upgrades to stations, cycle ways, small precincts and interface sites.

The role's primary objective is to achieve high-quality architectural and urban design outcomes on transport projects and to make an active contribution to all aspects of urban design, proposed urban development, architecture and land use planning for transport modes and related precincts (including railway stations, light rail stops, bus and ferry terminals and commuter car parks). The role will also ensure that designs meet customer and transport product requirements and integrate effectively with other transport modes, the local environment and context, and incorporate best practice master-planning principles and performance.

Key accountabilities
  • Assist with developing and operationalising urban design strategies, principles and frameworks that will deliver place-based and customer-focused transport infrastructure that responds to and integrates with its context.
  • Provide design expertise to Infrastructure delivery project teams and stakeholders, assisting with managing the TfNSW design review process for infrastructure projects, with meeting customer and transport product requirements.
  • Provide technical support and advice relating to the urban design, architectural, landscape and product design aspects of infrastructure projects as required.
  • Ensure transport nodes and related precincts integrate effectively with the other transport modes, incorporate urban design principles and provide customer-focused solutions.
  • Liaise and consult with infrastructure delivery project teams, technical advisors and contractors to ensure project assets are designed and constructed to the appropriate urban design standard considering technical, budget and operational requirements, heritage issues and community expectations.
  • Enable change across the portfolio which support both the vision for TfNSW and the development of customer-focused change strategies, programs and initiatives.
Essential requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Town Planning or relevant discipline
