Senior Project Engineer - Major Civil Infrastructure Project
QLD | 5/2 DIDO Roster | Tier 2 National Contractor
 
A leading Tier 2 national civil contractor has recently secured a major $100M+ infrastructure project and is now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join the team in a key leadership capacity.
This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role on a high-profile disaster recovery project involving large-scale road and drainage upgrades, slope stabilisation works, and bridge repair packages across regional Queensland.
 
Operating on a Monday-Friday (5/2) DIDO roster, the project is located approximately 3 hours from Brisbane and will run for the next 15 months, with strong future project continuity across QLD and NSW upon completion.
 
The Role
 
Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will lead the project engineering function across multiple work fronts while managing both Project Engineers and Site Engineers on site.
This position will suit a commercially astute Senior Project Engineer who enjoys balancing technical delivery, stakeholder management, and client-facing responsibilities on complex infrastructure projects.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day engineering activities across the project
• Manage and mentor Project Engineers and Site Engineers
• Drive project delivery in accordance with programme, budget, and quality targets
• Ensure works are delivered to TMR and/or TfNSW specifications
• Oversee planning, procurement, subcontractor management, and cost control functions
• Manage RFIs, variations, forecasting, reporting, and contractual correspondence
• Maintain strong day-to-day interfaces with the client and key stakeholders
• Support commercial outcomes through proactive project management and risk mitigation
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards

About You
 
To be considered for the role, you will possess:

• 8+ years' experience within civil construction/infrastructure projects
• Proven experience delivering road infrastructure upgrades and associated civil works
• Strong knowledge of TMR and/or TfNSW specifications
• Previous experience in a Senior Project Engineer or similar leadership role
• Demonstrated commercial acumen and client-facing experience
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
