The Role
As the Safety Advisor, you will be the driving force behind our "Safety First" culture on-site. Working closely with an experienced Project Manager and Site Manager, you will ensure compliance, mentor site teams, and proactively manage risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement, manage, and audit the company’s Work Health & Safety (WHS) Management System on-site.
- Conduct site inductions, toolboxes, and regular safety inspections/incident investigations.
- Collaborate with subcontractors to review and approve SWMS, ensuring high-risk activities are strictly managed.
- Lead a proactive safety culture by engaging with workers on the ground, coaching rather than just policing.
- Provide accurate and timely safety reporting to both project leadership and corporate state teams.
We are looking for an experienced construction safety professional who thrives on complex builds and values strong working relationships.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A formal qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (Cert IV minimum, Diploma preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Safety Advisor within the Australian commercial construction sector.
- Proven experience working on large-scale commercial projects (experience within health, aged care, or live environments is highly desirable).
- Strong technical knowledge of QLD WHS legislation, codes of practice, and Australian Standards.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills—the ability to influence site teams, subbies, and stakeholders effectively.
