Safety Advisor

Job description

Safety Advisor | Complex $50M Health Project
  • Location: Brisbane (Just outside CBD)
  • Sector: Commercial Construction – Healthcare
  • Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
About the Company
Our key client is one of Australia’s oldest, most established, and most respected national builders. With a legacy spanning over five decades, they have shaped the country’s landscape by delivering high-quality, landmark projects across the commercial, institutional, and infrastructure sectors.

Their success is built entirely on their people and our culture. They operate with the capability of a top-tier contractor but maintain the heart, values, and supportive atmosphere of a family-founded business. They are deeply committed to work-life balance, collaborative teamwork, and the continuous professional development of our staff. When you join them, you aren’t just a number—you are a valued member of a team that celebrates success together.

About the Project
This is an exceptional opportunity to spearhead the safety delivery of a high-profile, highly complex $50M healthcare development located just on the fringe of the Brisbane CBD.

Healthcare projects present unique live-environment challenges, intricate services integration, and strict quality benchmarks. This project will serve as a career-defining milestone, allowing you to showcase your expertise in a fast-paced, rewarding construction environment.

The Role
As the Safety Advisor, you will be the driving force behind our "Safety First" culture on-site. Working closely with an experienced Project Manager and Site Manager, you will ensure compliance, mentor site teams, and proactively manage risk.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement, manage, and audit the company’s Work Health & Safety (WHS) Management System on-site.
  • Conduct site inductions, toolboxes, and regular safety inspections/incident investigations.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to review and approve SWMS, ensuring high-risk activities are strictly managed.
  • Lead a proactive safety culture by engaging with workers on the ground, coaching rather than just policing.
  • Provide accurate and timely safety reporting to both project leadership and corporate state teams.
About You
We are looking for an experienced construction safety professional who thrives on complex builds and values strong working relationships.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A formal qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (Cert IV minimum, Diploma preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Safety Advisor within the Australian commercial construction sector.
  • Proven experience working on large-scale commercial projects (experience within health, aged care, or live environments is highly desirable).
  • Strong technical knowledge of QLD WHS legislation, codes of practice, and Australian Standards.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills—the ability to influence site teams, subbies, and stakeholders effectively.
What’s on Offer?
  • Competitive Salary Package: A lucrative remuneration package reflective of your experience and the complexity of the project.
  • True Team Culture: Join a business renowned for its exceptionally low staff turnover and highly supportive leadership.
  • Career Progression: With a massive national pipeline of work, this role offers long-term stability and clear pathways into senior safety leadership.
  • Prime Location: Work on a major project located just outside the Brisbane CBD with excellent accessibility.
