Job description

Our client is Australia’s largest water utility, providing water, wastewater, recycled water and some stormwater services to Greater Sydney.

Due to committed capital funding they are currently looking to engage 6 x Property Project Managers for 12 month contracts based in Sydney.

The primary purpose of this role is to develop a program of work with a view to design, plan, coordinate, oversee and deliver projects for land and building assets across the Sydney Water Property Portfolio as required by asset lifecycle objectives supported by provisional and capital funding. Of significance, this position will require a concentrated effort to initiatives focusing on construction, fit out, accommodation and amenities upgrades and building compliance. Externally, landscaping, fencing, drainage, and erosion control may form part of the portfolio project requirements.

Knowledge:
  • Relevant degree qualification (property, project management, engineering, architecture) or experience deemed equivalent
  • Appropriate property qualifications leading to Engineers Australia or similar membership.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislative and compliance requirements (such as Work Health and Safety and Building Code of Australia)
  • Demonstrated Project Management expertise

  • Demonstrates proficiency in identifying and managing avoidable property risks including reputational risk triggers, resolves issues; monitor and reports progress

  • Has sound working knowledge of relevant information databases, systems and processes related to own role; leverages knowledge of systems to deliver reporting on property related activities.
  • Collaborates with team members in Property, Strategic Property Development Engineering, Legal, HR and other related functions to deliver effective land management and facilities management
  • Demonstrates awareness of applicable property and environmental laws, legislations, regulatory and internal policies and controls affecting property transactions and property management undertaken
  • Prepare clear project proposals and define scope and goals in measurable terms
  • Establish performance outcomes and measures for key project goals, and define monitoring, reporting and communication requirements
  • Prepare accurate estimates of costs and resources required for more complex projects
  • Communicate the project strategy and its expected benefits to others
  • Monitor the completion of project milestones against goals and initiate amendments where necessary
  • Evaluate progress and identify improvements to inform future projects
Experience:
  • 10+ years’ experience working in design and construction, and/or project management
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the delivery of multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects
  • Experience in managing various forms of commercial arrangements, dealing with local and other government authorities to drive ‘value for money’ outcomes
