Job description

Our client operates within the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, is the first museum in Australia and was founded in 1827. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region.

They are currently looking to engage a Project Officer for an initial 6 month contract, with the view to turning into a permanent position.  

The Project Officer performs project management and support activities in the development and delivery of a diverse range of major and minor Infrastructure projects in line with the AM’s established objectives.  This role will provide support to the Senior Physical Infrastructure Manager in the delivery of building refurbishment/upgrades and related projects across the AM whilst achieving the AM’s objectives and outcomes in relation to a wide range of stakeholders, occupants, and visitors to the Museum.
  
Key accountabilities
  • Manage and monitor all aspects of project planning, development and implementation for a range of projects, including developing project plans, coordinating resources, managing budgets, meeting reporting requirements, and supporting project-related activities, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope in line with established agency project management methodology.
  • Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to engage stakeholders and ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Monitor and evaluate all aspects of project implementation, including risk and contingency management, benefits realisation, project impact and quality measures, to identify and address issues, assess project progress and effectiveness, and achieve project outcomes.
  • Prepares and provide advice and information to stakeholders on emerging project issues and to support project development and delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy objectives and other projects and priorities.
  • Liaise with other divisions to negotiate outcomes and resources for inter-divisional projects ensuring projects are delivering on time.
  • Assists with the implementation of business transformational processes and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to ensure accessibility of quality information and contribute to the achievement of project outcomes.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committees and consultations to facilitate exchange of information and support project completion in line with project plans.
Essential requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects, risk and stakeholder engagement
  • High-level time management skills and written skills with the ability to prioritise multiple pieces of work according to the importance
  • Demonstrated strong working knowledge of and experience with the technical details of building fabric, structure, engineering/building services within major public and heritage building environment.
