Job description

Our client provides train services throughout the Sydney metropolitan area and its vision is to keep Sydney moving by putting the customer at the centre of everything it does and delivering safe, reliable and clean rail services to the people of Sydney. 
They are currently looking to engage a Project Manager - Transport Interface experienced in Rail or Roads projects for an initial 12 month contract.

The primary purpose of this role;
  • Lead, coordinate and manage all TfNSW initiated projects which may impact on Sydney Trains operations and infrastructure, ensuring no adverse impact to Sydney Trains system safety, reliability, and availability
  • Client side management and coordination of TfNSW projects to ensure Sydney Trains requirements as operater and maintainer are captured and incorporated from initiation stage to Handover, ensuring the appropriate approvals are held and conditions complied with throughout the project lifecycle
Key Responsibilities;
  • Coordinate the implementation of Sydney Trains input and packages of work to meet scope, time, cost, quality and safety requirements as specified in the Project Agreement including monitoring the schedule and major milestones of Sydney Trains activities against the program to ensure critical dates are met, or if necessary arrangements are put into place to address delays
  • Support scope delivery against Business Requirements Specifications, System Requirements Specifications or other business requirement specifications and their variations, throughout the Project.
  • Participate in Risk Analysis for projects in order to ensure management of safety and commercial risks to facilitate decision making and risk minimisation for Sydney Trains in relation to the project
  • Manage the scope change requests originating from both TfNSW and Sydney Trains.
  • Participate in and ensure appropriate Sydney Trains stakeholders attend commissioning status committee and operational readiness meetings etc, facilitating the close-out of Sydney Trains actions
  • Facilitate Sydney Trains engagement during the planning phase to progress from a project scope agreed with Sydney Trains to the point of project delivery and ensure any Sydney Trains packages of work are adequately planned and resourced through the various Sydney Trains processes to effect timely delivery
Selection Criteria;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, or equivalent experience, preferably in a brownfield rail environment
  • Demonstrated experience in interface and/or project management of multi-disciplined projects in a complex engineering and operation environment (rail or construction), preferably in a brownfield rail environment
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management Methodologies and project management tools and project reporting.
  • Well developed communication (verbal and written),interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, including ability to negotiate and manage conflict.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and experience in contract administration and working effectively with external and internal parties to ensure delivery to contract and required standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying project governance processes, including project change control.
