Civil Project Engineer - FIFO | Regional QLD
Contract through to December 2026 | Immediate Start | $800-$1,000/day + Super
 
We are seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer to join a major regional road upgrade project in Queensland on a contract basis through to the end of the year.
 
This is a hands-on project engineering position suited to a driven Civil Engineer who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, taking ownership of day-to-day project engineering responsibilities and hitting the ground running from day one.
 
The Role
 
Working on a regional road upgrade project, you will be responsible for the day-to-day project engineering function and will report directly to a Project Manager who will be overseeing the project remotely.
You will need to be comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy, making decisions in the field and driving the engineering requirements of the project forward.
 
Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing day-to-day project engineering activities across the works
• Providing engineering support to construction and site teams
• Managing subcontractors, suppliers and consultants
• Quality assurance, ITPs, inspections and technical documentation
• Reviewing designs, drawings and specifications
• Managing RFIs, technical queries and design changes
• Quantity tracking, cost management and progress reporting
• Supporting programming and planning of upcoming works
• Coordinating civil works across earthworks, drainage and pavements
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements
• Working closely with the Project Manager and site team to resolve issues and keep the project moving

About You
 
We are looking for a driven and capable Civil Engineer who enjoys being close to the action and is comfortable taking ownership in a demanding project environment.
 
To be successful, you will have:

• 5+ years' post-graduate experience in civil construction
• Strong experience across civil, drainage, earthworks and pavement works
• Experience working on road infrastructure or major civil projects
• A strong understanding of construction methodologies, quality and project controls
• The ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions in the field
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to project engineering
• The ability to step into an existing project and hit the ground running
• A willingness to work in a demanding regional environment

This is a contract role where there is little time for hand-holding. We're looking for someone who is comfortable being thrown into the deep end, can quickly understand what needs to be done and has the technical and practical capability to get it done.
 
Given the regional and demanding nature of the project, applicants will need to be physically and mentally resilient, comfortable working long days in a site-based environment and able to maintain a high level of performance in challenging conditions.
