We are currently seeking a Site-Based Mechanical Project Engineer to support the delivery of a major gas pipeline construction project in regional Australia. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing project team on a 6-month contract, with an immediate start available.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Senior Engineer on site, you will play a key role in the day-to-day execution of the mechanical scope across a large-scale pipeline construction project. This is a hands-on, site-based position requiring strong technical capability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate effectively in remote environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the mechanical scope of works on site
- Support construction activities to ensure alignment with design, specifications, and project schedule
- Coordinate with subcontractors, supervisors, and project stakeholders
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement solutions in real time
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Assist with reporting, documentation, and site engineering deliverables
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3+ years' experience in a site-based project engineering role
- Background in sectors such as oil & gas, mining, energy, or renewables
- Proven experience working on construction projects in remote or FIFO environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
- Physically and mentally resilient, with the ability to thrive in camp-based settings
- 6-month contract with immediate start
- Competitive daily rate: $600 - $1,000/day (dependent on experience)
- 2:1 FIFO roster from any major East Coast city
