Job description

Our client is the leading transport agency in New South Wales and they are currently seeking a Fleet Inspector experienced in Plant and Truck for an intitial 6 month contract based in Yennora.

The Fleet Inspector (Plant and Truck) is responsible for ensuring the new fleet of plant and trucks to be supplied comply with TfNSW specifications and safety requirements. The Fleet Inspectors will also provide technical advice on plant and truck requirements and assist the Project Manager (Plant and Truck) with the administration of the Transport Agency Truck and Plant Leasing Contracts.

Key accountabilities
  • Assist in the procurement and development process by liaising with management and customers and identifying plant requirements, specifications and delivery times.
  • Negotiate, and problem solve with suppliers and manufacturers of plant, vehicles and equipment on compliance with contract conditions and delivery commitments.
  • Arrange realistic site field trials or evaluation and comparison of plant, assess new equipment and technology for field applications and provide technical advice as required.
  • Preparation of purchase submissions, progress payments schedules and contract compliance reports.
  • Inspect plant and trucks as works in progress/final inspection at manufacturers and suppliers premises and on delivery for conformance with contract/tender requirements, and ensure new purchases comply with technical specifications including Australian design rules, WHS, NHVR, EPA, and TfNSW requirements and specifications.
  • Advice and assist field staff in solving service and repair problems and negotiating warranty claims.
  • Supervise refurbishment, including major inspections of EPVs, mobile cranes and ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Australian Standards.
  • Prepare service charts, documentation relating to new fleet items are correctly engaged on the Fleet
  • Invoicing System to ensure all documentation relating to new fleet items are updated on TfNSW Information Systems.
Essential requirements
  • Trade qualifications in a field related to earth-moving plant and equipment with detailed knowledge of earth-moving and construction plant and trucks.
  • Possess and maintain a valid a current Class MR motor vehicle driver’s licence and be willing to work outside regular working hours and travel extensively throughout NSW, including regional areas and sometimes at short notice on occasion
